First Generation

APRIL ROGERS

Hello,  I am April, I'm a first generation bluegrass entertainer.  My background in music starts in a small country church choir. I started playing the stand up bass once not long after Katie was born, but that didn't last long. Motherhood was more pressing at the time. Then I was able to pick it up again New years eve of 2003. I've learned a lot around our home with my husband and daughter and in parking lot jams. I'm a firm believer that you are never too old or too young to have fun and learn something new. Sometimes you just have to wait till the time is right. Bluegrass music and bluegrass friends are wonderful!

second generation

Bobby martin

My name is Bobby Martin, I am a Second generation bluegrass picker. My dad, Robert Martin Sr.  plays guitar. One time he and my mentor, Bill Gokey took second place at a talent contest. First place was a drunk  tap dancer whose act was  mistaken for comedy. I like to think that I am a little better than dad. I am originally from New York. There I got with my very first band Dyer Switch. In 1996, I moved  to Florida since then, I have picked with the following bands; Redwing, Sugarland Grass, The Bluegrass Who, with Red Smith, Swinging Bridge (founding member), and finally with Roger Bass and the Hillbillies. You can E-mail me at thekid126@comcast.net

third generation

LaRon Rogers

Hi, my name is LaRon, many of my friends call me Bub. My Granny Rogers and her brothers started the 1st Generation of the Rogers' family Bluegrass. Granny played the fiddle. From there  the music gene was passed to the 2nd generation, my father Buddy Rogers and his brothers. He and my Uncle James started the 1st Rogers family band with James (banjo), his son Jimmy (mandolin) and Buddy (fiddle) with two of his children, my sister Binki (bass) and me (guitar). I've since played with the Florida Bluegrass Express and now have my own band with my wife, April and daughter, Katie. I am a third Generation  bluegrass musician.

Fourth Generation

KATIE ROGERS

I'm Katie Rogers and I'm having a lot of fun working on this web page. I just started playing guitar with my mom and dad a little over a year ago. It's a lot of fun. I'm 16 years old. My parents started taking me to weekend pickin's and playing music just seemed like a lot more fun than watching others play. ( it really has been) Since we have started  the Generations Bluegrass band I have met so many really nice people. Singing and playing has added a lot to my life, and sharing these experiences with my mom and dad will be something  I will remember for the rest of it... I am the Fourth Generation of the Rogers family to play bluegrass.. and I'm loving it!

LaRon Rogers Jr.

Hi, I'm Bub Jr. I'm the one that doesn't play an instrument ....yet. Dad says I can be the bus driver when the band makes it big. That would make me First generation bus driver.
